Oggy and the cockroaches is a talkless show that began first airing in the late 1990s. It's about a cat named Oggy living in a house with 3 cockroaches, Joey, Marky and Dee Dee. These 3 only purposes is to pester and annoy Oggy constantly. The show was created in France and it gained a worldwide popularity. The show revolve a lot around food . Oggy desires to eat and it's his main desire in life. It often come back to Oggy chasing the cockroaches or even the opposite. With 8 seasons, a spin off and a movie, there's a lot of content. There is so much time traval and living in various time period that it's very hard to pick a beginning for the story. Oggy had a wild childhood which is all explored in the spin off show. He has a long and great ancestry spanning back to the very beginning of time. Modern day Oggy is lazy and a gluton that does nothing but lounge around and eat. Jack is Oggy's loving and protecting cousin. Jack is also pestered by the cockroaches and tries to protect Oggy and himself from them. He is very strict and also different from Oggy so their personalities can sometimes clash. As for the cockroaches now, starting with Joey. Joey is the leader of the cockroaches and he has a tendency to have a dictator mentality. He is the brain of the team but sometimes he is rejected by the other, leading to their defeat. His goal is to attain control on Oggy's house and he would do pretty much anything for that. Marky is mischievous and loves to annoy and prank Oggy in almost every possible way. He is reckless and loves to cause Mayhem but he is also pretty dimwitted. Dee Dee is probably the most immature of these 3 and much like Oggy, he literally lives to eat. He sometimes teamed with Marky when Joey became a bit too authoritarian. Then we have Bob, who is more like an antagonist, the neighboor of Oggy, living in the house next to his. It's a dog having anger issues. It can be understandable as Oggy is pretty muchh a pain and a nuisance to anyone around but outside of being a Brutus, Bob doesn't offer much. We know that Oggy have a grandmother that made a few appearances. And also that Oggy tried multiple times to expand his family and get himself a wifey. It's weird how he can pull out human females but it's revealed once that during his younger days he grew up with a human crush so I guess it's just his thing. Funny thing is that it happens that Oggy regret hurting or chasing the cockroaches out of his house as his life would become annoying without them and vice versa. Another episode featured Oggy killing the cockroaches who then returned back to haunt him as ghosts. One of the most comon recurring theme are the multiple sci fi themes and inventions. Like the episode featuring a space fersion of the 3 cockroaches. Then finally, fetishes. They really tend to embellish some questionnable stuff like the episode where the cockroaches inflate Oggy's stomach while he is sleeping, leading Oggy to believe that he somehow got pregnant. After he does his usual chase, Jack pops him and Oggy inflates the cockroaches, resulting in them flying away. Now during the season 2 we are introduced to a new character, Monica. She is Oggy's sister.She doesn't make many appearances but she has an important storyline. As soon she showed up for the first time in the serie, Jack immediatly falls head over heels for her. It's a bit weird considering that Jack being Oggy's cousin, he is also Monica's cousin.What's worse is that they eventually become a couple and have a kitten. Speaking about family, the cockroaches southern cousin shows up for 1 episode. Oggy goes to space multiple times and in 1 episode even receives a time freezing whistle. There is an episode where they manage to freeze pretty much the entire earth, creating a new Ice Age. At the end of the episode, the Titanic comes crashing on the iceberg Oggy and Jack were on. There is also that weird episode where the sun seemed to shy only at Oggy's house. Almost like some divinity was choosing Oggy for some greater purposes. In season 2, when Oggy stops chasing the cockroaches, they create an Oggy robot who chase them around showing firstly how crazy intelligent they are for being able to create robots like this and secondly one that anoy them for fun. Last part of the season heavily focus on Oggy travelling around the world. In one episode he goes to Egypt and ends up fallinginto a pyramid where he is sucked into a time travelling vortex sending him to Ancient Egypt. In another episode, Oggy breaks into a maximu security prison. And at the end of the season, Oggy goes to Paris. Then honestly the season 3 doesn't offer anything new except confirming that Oggy is legit invincible. He can survives pretty much everything. Now season 4 is important for Oggy's character development with the introduction of Olivia. Then when it comes to season 5 and to the movie, it features Oggy in a different place than in the house. It stops the regular storyline. It's a bit unclear if these are Oggy, Jack and the cockroaches travelling through time or if it was their ancestors that happen to act like their descendants. The movie goes through 5 different time periods. Firstly we have a pre time era, then prehistoric area, then Middle Ages area, then the 19th century London and then finally in the star age. The story was split into 3 different stories. Not so much of a movie bur rather 3 long episodes. Now, coming back to season 4 and Olivia it has some typical episodes about food and laziness and some weird sci fi episodes. But Olivia being Oggy's new crush and later, girlfriend, it changes the dynamic of the whole season. Even the 3 cockroaches get a love interest with Lady K inside Olivia's house and a female cockroach. At the end of the seaon, Oggy and Olivia get married. Then we have seasons 6 and 7 which were essentially reanimating prior seasons. After season 7 the dynamic completly change. Season 8 was now called : Oggy and the cockroaches : next generation. The biggest aspect of the show was Oggy's rivalry with the cockroaches. And they basically removed that. Oggy gets a new adoptive daughter. She is an elephant. Her name is Pia. They get some pretty average stories. There is also a spin off.
